Phasing out redundant oil and gas infrastructure which has powered the world for decades is a huge industrial challenge. Over 2,800 fixed platforms, 160 floating platforms and more than 18,000 wells are forecast for decommissioning over the next decade at a projected cost of almost USD 100 billion. A spend which generates no tangible value for industry or society.
Clearwell Technology is a SME established to develop Therm-X-Mill® and its unique family of patented systems for well decommissioning. These systems eliminate the requirement for a drilling rig as part of the decommissioning process, delivering transformational time, cost and carbon emission reductions.
Founded by a team with wide ranging experience in well decommissioning and rigless intervention, we are based in Aberdeenshire, UK where we are currently performing our research and development activities with our partners the University of Strathclyde and the Manufacturing Technology Centre.
Supported by the Scottish and UK Governments, we are nearing the end of our research activities and are ramping up focus on the manufacture and field trials of our systems.
Our technology is patent protected and supported by a further number of patent pending applications.
